Get excited because we’re about to make the easiest hummus EVER! I know that a lot of people want to make their own hummus at home but because they don’t own a food processor they end up buying their hummus at the store. It can be discouraging to not have all the ~fancy~ kitchen gadgets you see people using online! Trust me, I know! But the cool thing about this recipe is all you need is a fork!! Even if you do own a food processor but don’t feel like dealing with the clean up afterwards, this recipe is for you, too!
Another great thing about this hummus is that it stays a little chunky! It has a different vibe than regular, smooth hummus so it jazzes up an hors d’oeuvres table! And this is just a base recipe, you can add any plethora of flavors to bring it to life even more! Roasted garlic, chipotle, sun dried tomato, roasted red pepper! The list goes on! Anything would be great added in!
What you’ll need:
2 cans garbanzo beans, drained
3 tablespoon tahini
3 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
To start the base of the hummus you’ll need to mash up the garbanzo beans with a fork! This is very easy because the beans are so soft! Move all the squashed garbanzos into a bowl.
Next, into the mashed up garbanzo beans add the rest of the ingredients. Mix everything together really well (as you do this it will make the mixture a little more smooth but still kind of chunky, which I really like!)
If you want to have a nice presentation, move the hummus into a clean bowl, drizzle a little bit more olive oil over the top and then sprinkle it with red pepper flakes! Serve it with some Whole Wheat Pita Bread and you have yourself a fabulous appetizer for any occasion!!
Thank you so much for reading! I hope this easy hummus recipe inspires you to think outside of the box while you’re cooking! Intimidating recipes can be made easy with just a little imagination! I can’t wait for you guys to try this out at home! Let me know in the comment section what your favorite hummus flavor is!!
